Cooking Bean Soup:
Step 1: Prepare Beans and Onions.
If you decided to cook bean soup today, then you had to start cooking yesterday with the preparation of beans. Sort beans and fill with water, leave overnight. Before cooking the soup, drain the water and rinse the beans under running water.
Peel the onion and cut into cubes or half rings, as you like.
Step 2: Cooking Bean Soup.
Place the pan in a small fire, pour olive oil and heat a little. Put the chopped onion and sauté it for about 5 to 10 minutes.
Put the pork drumstick in the pan (first chop it into pieces) and beans.
Add the broth and spices. Bring to a boil and cook the bean soup over low heat for about 2 hours.
Beans should become soft, and the meat should be easily separated from the bones.
Remove the meat from the soup, separate it from the bones, divide it into small pieces and return it to the pan. Try the soup, salt to taste. That's it, the bean soup is ready.
Step 3: Serve the bean soup.
Pour the bean soup into plates and serve. If there is fresh greens, you can chop it and add to each plate.
Enjoy your meal!
- Pork drumstick will replace any meat; if there is no ready-made broth, take a little smoked ham or brisket, or a couple of ribs and the soup will turn out very tasty even on a bean broth. Only, please, no bouillon cubes.
- Salt bean dishes at the end of cooking. If you salt it immediately, the beans will not absorb water well and cook longer.
- There are many varieties of beans, they have slightly different properties and they cook for different times from 1-1.5 hours. Therefore, it is better not to mix them and in the process of cooking try the soup for preparedness.
